Diagnosis

We got the final diagnosis on Angela's knee today. Dr. Churchill said the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is torn . There is bone bruising and fluid just as the MRI showed but the ACL is torn. Because her body is not finished growing he does not want to do surgery now, however he prescribed physical therapy for 1 month (2 - 3 times a week) along with a knee brace. We will see him again in a month to see how the therapy has helped. Whena sked how this would affect her activities in sports he said provided the therapy and the brace work she could participate in sports. Angela has decided on her own that she will take the season off from soccer this year and give her body the opportunity to heal.

I would get a 2nd opinion concerning surgery on Angela's knee. ACL surgery is major and the concern is atrophy of the ligament if surgery is delayed......

another thing....the ACL is what stabalizes the whole knee....playing sports on a knee with a torn ACL risks injury to the other knee ligaments like the MCL........Angela should see a doctor who specializes in sports injuries....what happened to the other blog?
