2005 - The year of the Hurricanes
- Hurricane Dennis - Category 3. Struck near Pensacola.
- Hurricane Katrina - Category 5. Struck Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida. Deadliest US hurricane since the 1928 storm. People here in Clewiston talk about the storm of 1928.
- Hurricane Rita - Category 5. Was the second category 5 hurricane in the gulf in less than a month.
- Hurricane Wilma - Category 3. Strongest hurricane recorded in the Atlantic basin. Hit Clewiston on October 24.
2005 will also be remembered for other events as well:
- The Terri Schiavo right-to-die case spurred demonstrations by both sides. The bitter right-to-die case caused many of us to think about the issue at hand. Her feeding tube was removed on Friday, March 18.
- Pope John II dies on April 2 at the age of 84. He led the Roman Catholic Church for 27 years.
- Baseball players and owners agree to tougher penalties for steroid use and testing for amphetamines next season.
- U.S. Citizens dig deep in their pockets to help in the Tsunami relief efforts.
- Fifty two people are killed in terrorists bombings in London’s transit system.
- Johnny Carson dies at age 79.
- U.S. troops still in Iraq.
As I look back at the events of 2005, I know I am blessed to have seen another year go by. My family and I have been blessed with good health, our safety, financial stability, and with family and friends that we cherish. I know that none of this would be possible if not for God and his abundant mercy and grace.
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. - Romans 8:28

Church Hayride
ailments get out as they once did. There is always humor bundled up on the hayride year after year. Just a few examples:
- Comments like, "Are we sitting on hay?"
- Losing shoes because the driver got to close to the hedge at the hospital.

Lessons Learned on Our Shopping Adventure
- When looking on the internet for prices on some items prior to going to purchase that item expect the price to be higher in the store. Even though they do not tell you that online.
- Read your owner's manual for your vehicle prior to going out of town, so that you know how to remove a jack from your vehicle.
- Practice changing a tire before it becomes necessary.
- There are still gentlemen in this world that will help ladies change a tire. It may take three or more walking by and totally ignoring you first. But be patient God will send someone to help.
- There are men out there that read instructions first!
- Carry band-aids in your purse. You may need them after attempting to remove a jack from a Dodge Caravan.
- Cell phone service is non-existent in Wellington Green Mall.
- And last but not least, God watches over his children. I could have been on a dark State Rd. 80 when the tire went flat.

New Neighbors
On the Road Again
We traveled to Tropical Park in Miami again today for another soccer game. Today's win was special since it was the twin's birthday! We celebrated the win and their birthday after the game with cupcakes. We won 6 -1. Angela was the goal keeper for the second half of the game today. She blocked two goals and one got by her.
We have 4 more games to play before State games in January. Lucikly only one of those games require us to travel out of town. I hope some our friends get to come watch some of games that are scheduled in town. Maybe even David will make it out to one of his sister's games. It seems like every time we've had a game out of town we have had something happening at our church and he wants to go to that instead. He opted to stay in town today to see a good friend of ours be ordained as a deacon. Angela and I wanted to be there as well, but knew George understood.
